Founded in 1903, Scripps is one of the oldest and most prestigious marine and earth sciences research institutions in the world. The Scripps mission is to seek, teach, and communicate scientific understanding of the oceans, atmosphere, Earth, and other planets for the benefit of society and the environment. Come learn more about this jewel of the University of California system; we invite you to join our 1-hour public tour offered the second Saturday of every month. Buon Appetito! This immersive experience takes you on a culinary tour of Little Italy as guests savor the delicious cuisine Italy is known for, while strolling through the neighborhood, seeing the sights and learning about the neighborhood’s history. This food tour will highlight several Little Italy restaurants representing different regions of Italy including some traditional neighborhood staples and new ones with a modern twist. Hear the heartwarming stories of how these recipes and dishes came to be and learn about the history of these first-generation Italian restaurants and their owners.
